CHRISTMAS CHEER, BEER AND FEAR.

Oh Goody, it's Christmas! A time for goodwill and cheer,
When retailers put their prices up and food is far too dear!
When families waste their money on presents that we don't need,
And children lust for more presents, in unrequited greed.

When a price is set to spend, on each other's special gift,
Don't spend  less than that, unless you want a family rift,
'That's not fair, his present is far better than mine, oh dear,
Gee, I want Aunt Myrtle to be my Kris Kringle next year'.

When the traffic is more blocked than a plumber's worst blocked pipe,
People yell and scream and road rage hits its heights,
People stressing endlessly, oh, the money they must spend,
On turkeys, cakes and puddings, which they can't eat anyway in the end.

And running from early morning, when forcing yourself  out of bed,
Eat breakfast lunch and dinner, with relatives you thought were dead,
Nice to see you Deary, it has been a long long time,
Eat another piece of chook and drink another wine!

Brush the flies from off the prawns, sitting broiling in the sun,
Let the dog eat  the turkey there's too much for everyone,
The kids can eat the lollies cause the toffee is so thick,
Just another Fanta before they feel a little sick.

Uncle needs his nap, after lunch his traditional snooze,
How much fun it is to have, so much unnecessary booze,
More pudding, why not, I think I can fit it in!
No use saying no, I was looking a little thin!

Eat the cake, stuff the pud, more roast potatoes please,
Loosen the belt buckle as the trousers begin to squeeze,
Now lets jump into the car and rush across the town,
And force some more of Granny's Xmas dinner down.

Oh wow, a present, and it's just what I would ask,
A tooth brush with a battery to brush away the plaque,
I'll clean out my old sock draw to replenish the new stock,
Of t-shirts and the underwear and more stripey old man's socks.

Ah, it's Christmas, bloated bellies and flies crawling in their mouths,
The children sick and crying, the parents have no house,
It's Christmas and we Celebrate our Saving, 2,000 years ago,
A Saving the sick and starving, will  never, ever, know.

It's Christmas time again, and what have we ever done,
To help the sick and lonely, any good for any one?
What do they want for Xmas, some water, shelter, perhaps not to shed a tear,
Some relief from waking up each day, each day a living fear.

The sickness lies within us all, the Xmas sickness known as greed,
When we overstock our own selves, with the things we just don't need.
